That’s great! A local person/family will help you to get to know Geelong and learn about Aussie culture. The local family will also get to learn about the culture and life in your country of origin. Through friendship and sharing, we hope that your time in Geelong will be more enjoyable!

Please note that International Friends does not match local single males with female students or single local females with male students.

The International Friends coordinator will do their best to match you based on the preferences listed but cannot guarantee it.

By submitting this form, I am stating that I want to participate in the International Friendship Family Program and agree to the following:

  • I understand that this is an application for the program and not a guaranteed placement. I certify that the information I provide throughout the selection process, including on this application for a position and in discussions with International Friends Coordinator is true, correct, and complete to the best of my knowledge.
  • It is strongly recommended that participants are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination doses as per their eligibility.
  • I understand that I will not be matched with a person/family until I attend orientation.
  • I provide permission for my contact information (email, phone) to be provided to the person/family I am matched with.
  • I understand that I need to contact the International Friends Coordinator if I need any assistance or advice during the program.
  • I understand that I must follow International Friends Code of Conduct and values.
  • I give permission for photographic or video recordings of me at International Friends events to be electronically displayed via the Internet or in a public setting.
  • I will connect with the local person/family at least fortnightly.
  • I will be respectful of the local person/family’s beliefs whether personal, religious or cultural.
  • I will be interested and open to sharing my/our culture with local person/family and learn their culture from them.
